Privacy
Short version: we store only what Katale needs to work, and we never sell your data.
What we store when you create an account
- Your name and WhatsApp number.
- Your password, hashed (we cannot read it).
- If you open a shop: shop details (name, area, description, Instagram), products, prices and photos you upload.
- If you are signed in: your saved favourites and the shops you tapped to contact, so you can find them again.
Without an account
Favourites and “Recently viewed” are saved on your own phone (in the browser), not on our servers.
Security records
To stop password guessing we keep short-lived records of sign-in attempts, linked to a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address.
What we do not do
- We never sell your data.
- We do not see your WhatsApp chats. Orders happen in WhatsApp between you and the shop.
- No advertising trackers.
Shop setup requests and receipts
If you ask Katale to set up your shop for you, we keep the shop name, WhatsApp number and what you sell so we can contact you. If a seller makes a receipt, the buyer name and number the seller types in are saved with that seller's receipts.
The Katale app (Android and iPhone)
The Katale app shows this same website, so this page covers it too. The app does not collect anything extra:
- No location, contacts or microphone access. The camera or photo library is only used when you choose a product photo to upload.
- No advertising ID and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- To work offline, the app keeps a copy of recent public pages and pictures on your phone. Your account pages are not saved this way.
- Links to WhatsApp open the WhatsApp app. What you send there is between you and the shop.
- Google Play and the Apple App Store may collect download and crash statistics under their own privacy policies.
Shop details are public
A shop's name, area, WhatsApp number and products are shown publicly so buyers can contact the shop.
Delete your data
Message Katale on WhatsApp 0709 422 968 from your account's number (or email [email protected]) and we will delete your account and shop.
