How Katale works

Katale connects buyers with real shops on WhatsApp. Here is how to buy safely, and how to sell well.

Buying on Katale

1 Search or browse
Type what you want in the search bar, or tap a category. Use the filters for brand, price and area to find shops near you.
2 Look at the photos and details
Swipe through all the photos. Read the price, the condition (new or used) and the shop’s note.
3 Check the shop’s reviews
Open the shop page to see reviews from people who chatted with the shop. A new shop may have no reviews yet. That is normal, so just be extra careful.
4 Chat on WhatsApp
Tap Order on WhatsApp or Chat on WhatsApp. A chat opens with your message already typed. Ask about the price, stock and delivery.
5 Meet in a safe public place
Meet in daylight, in a busy place like a shopping mall, a shop or a petrol station. Bring a friend if you can.
6 Inspect before you pay
Check the item carefully. Switch phones and electronics on, try clothes on, and test-drive vehicles. Pay only when you are happy.
7 Never send money first
Do not send a deposit or Mobile Money before you have seen the item, even if the seller says someone else wants it.
8 Report scams
If something feels wrong, tap ⚑ Report on the listing or the shop. Katale reads every report and hides shops that break the rules.

1 Open your free shop
Opening a shop on Katale is free. Sign up with your WhatsApp number and your shop page is made for you.
2 Tap “Post ad”
Tap ＋ Post ad, add a title, a price, photos and a short description. Your ad goes live straight away.
3 Take good photos (try Photo Studio)
Use daylight and a clean background, and show the item from several sides. Photo Studio can remove the background and make your photos look sharp. It is free.
4 Be honest about price and condition
Show the real price and say clearly if the item is new or used, and whether anything is wrong with it. Honest ads get more chats and better reviews.
5 Boost or go Gold (optional)
Want more people to see your items? You can boost a product into the Featured row or upgrade to a Gold or Silver shop. This is optional, and listing stays free.
6 Reply fast
Buyers message several shops. Reply quickly on WhatsApp, keep your stock up to date and mark sold items as sold.

Find someone: open https://katalemarkets.com/services, tap a category (plumbers, electricians, mechanics, tutors, designers…) and filter by district or price. Chat on WhatsApp.
Offer your service: sign in and go to Post a service. Add what you do, your district, a rate (or “Ask for price”), when you're available and up to 10 photos of past work. One service profile per account; you can also have a shop.
Reviews: only people who signed in and tapped WhatsApp on the service page can review it, so reviews come from real chats.
Health providers: check licences before booking. Katale doesn't verify qualifications.

Find a job: https://katalemarkets.com/jobs, filter by district, type, category and salary. Apply the way the employer asks (WhatsApp, email or link).
Post a job: sign in and go to Post a job. Jobs close after the deadline, or after 30 days.
Never pay money to get a job. Jobs that mention fees (registration, processing, training fees…) are held for Katale review. Report any job that asks for money with the ⚑ Report button.

Sellers can mark a product “Open to swap” and say what they'd swap for. Use the “Open to swap” filter to find them.
“Offer a swap” opens WhatsApp with a message linking the product. Katale doesn't value swaps: agree the deal yourselves and see both items first.

Sellers can send a photo of their National ID and a selfie for review. Approved shops show a small “ID checked” badge. It means Katale looked at an ID; it is not a guarantee. The ID photos are deleted after the decision.
